Movement with Purpose

Welcome to HME Yoga, a donation-based yoga studio in Brooksville, Florida where movement and community come together to support programs that feed, educate, and empower neighbors experiencing homelessness.

Our Mission

Why We Practice

Our mission is to create an accessible, donation-based space for mindful movement that nurtures individual well-being while supporting and strengthening our wider community.

Before You Arrive

What to Expect in Our Classes

Our classes are walk-in and donation-based. There’s no need to register, simply come for the class that calls to you and contribute what you can at the front desk. If it’s your first visit, arriving about 10 minutes early allows time for a brief waiver and a warm welcome from the instructor.Mats and blocks are available, though you’re welcome to bring your own. Classes are open to all levels and centered on mindful movement, breath, and presence — not performance or perfect poses.

Accessible Movement for Every Body

All classes are open to every level and can be adjusted to support your body and energy on any given day. You’re invited to move at your own pace, take rest when needed, and explore the practice in a way that feels steady, supportive, and true to you.

Hot Power

An “ocean-meets-bonfire” practice that builds strength, focus, and grit. Move through strong standing poses with breath and presence while enjoying the benefits of infrared heat.
You’ll sweat, strengthen, and leave feeling steady and capable.

Anyone ready to level up. All levels welcome; intensity can be dialed up or down.

Warm Vinyasa Flow

Warm enough to soften, cool enough to stay grounded. This fluid, breath-led flow feels like a gentle morning tide rolling in. Move with ease and intention as you start the day calm, steady, and glowing.

Flow lovers seeking warmth, ease, and a sunny start.

Stretch & Tone

A non-heated blend of stretching, strengthening, and mindful movement. Grounded and nourishing — like walking the shore at golden hour. Expect gentle toning, lengthening, and space to honor the body you’re in.

All levels and anyone craving balance and refreshment.

Yoga (Unheated)

Slow down and move with curiosity. This class focuses on foundational poses, breathwork, and mindful transitions — simple, intentional, and steady. Perfect for learning, revisiting, or remembering why the basics matter.

Beginners, refreshers, and experienced yogis who love the fundamentals.

Dharma Class (Free Community Yoga)

Offered the last Sunday of each month, with rotating teachers and occasional outdoor practice beneath the mossy oaks. Rooted in seva (service) and connection, this is yoga as gathering — open, welcoming, and shared.

Everyone. Truly.

Yin

Slow, soothing, and deeply restorative. Long, supported holds help release tension, calm the nervous system, and cool fiery lives. Think twilight tide pools, soft moon energy, and permission to do less.

All levels, especially those needing rest and quiet.

Somatic Flow

A playful, embodied vinyasa that blends strength with freedom. Breath-led movement invites curiosity, release, and presence. Strong but intentional — with space to explore and let go.

Anyone craving strength, play, and fresh freedom.

The Heart Behind HME

HME began with a simple belief: wellness should be accessible to everyone in our community. We exist to create a welcoming, empowering space where people of all backgrounds and income levels can move, breathe, and grow together. Yoga is more than a workout — it’s a tool for resilience, connection, and confidence both on and off the mat.We are here to build strength in our bodies and in our community.

Our Story

HME began with a simple act of care. After a local outreach program unexpectedly ended, Michele continued showing up in the park to serve meals to neighbors experiencing homelessness. Jana later joined alongside her, and through those moments of connection, they recognized a deeper need — not just for food, but for a consistent, welcoming space where people could gather, feel supported, and experience community. From that shared vision, HME was created: a place rooted in compassion, connection, and the belief that everyone deserves to feel seen, nourished, and at home.Today, HME continues that mission by providing five hot meals each week and offering an open, welcoming space where people can gather, connect, and simply be. More than just a yoga studio and a place for meals, HME has become a hub for community, dignity, and care. Much of that day-to-day warmth is made possible by Gil, our dedicated volunteer who helps run the program and is often there to welcome visitors with a familiar face and kind hello.

Meet Our Co-Founders

Jana

Born and raised in Brooksville, Florida, Jana grew up in a home rooted in faith, creativity, service, and community. After years raising a family and working in real estate, a growing awareness of homelessness in her hometown inspired her to become more deeply involved in outreach and service. What started as volunteering at a local meal program eventually grew into HME – Hernando Mentorship Empowerment after the original outreach program unexpectedly ended and a small group chose to continue showing up for their neighbors.Today, HME blends outreach, wellness, and community care under one roof with the belief that everyone deserves dignity, support, and a place where they feel welcomed as they are.

Michele

Originally from Texas and raised near Detroit, Michele’s journey has been shaped by resilience, compassion, and a heart for service. After years in retail and later earning degrees in Business and Health Information Technology, life eventually brought her back to Florida and to Brooksville. In December 2021, when a local church outreach program serving those experiencing homelessness ended unexpectedly, Michele continued showing up on her own, serving meals in the park when others no longer could. What began as a simple act of care quickly grew through community support into what is now HME.Her vision is to create a place where people feel at home, are treated with dignity, learn new skills, and find support to begin again.
